Boardroom table sizes
Boardrooms usually use comfortable or generous spacing (36–42 in per person). That makes the table longer than a standard meeting table for the same headcount.
| Board seats | Length at 36 in | Length at 42 in | Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 9 ft | 10.5 ft | 48–54 in |
| 10 | 12 ft | 14 ft | 48–54 in |
| 12 | 15 ft | 17.5 ft | 54–60 in |
| 14 | 18 ft | 21 ft | 54–60 in |
| 16 | 21 ft | 24.5 ft | 60–66 in |
| 18 | 24 ft | 28 ft | 60–66 in |
| 20 | 27 ft | 31.5 ft | 60–66 in |
| 22 | 30 ft | 35 ft | 60–66 in |
Shapes
- Rectangle: most seats per foot.
- Boat: wider in the middle so everyone can see everyone.
- Racetrack: rounded ends, softer look.
- Two-piece: tables over about 12 ft can be built in sections for elevators and tight stairs.
Materials
Solid hardwood (walnut, white oak, maple, cherry) lasts for decades and can be refinished. Veneer and laminate cost less up front.
